Strategic Power: Power in the Process pt 4

“Give me six hours to chop down a tree and I will spend the first four sharpening the ax.” ~Abraham Lincoln In the book of Acts, we find the disciples waiting in Jerusalem, along with many others for the green light from Heaven to go out and spread the goodness about the Lord and Messiah, Jesus Christ. They’ve witnessed His miracles, they’ve heard His words, they watched Him die a gruesome death on a rugged cross only to see Him risen on the third day. They believe. They believe in what He has said, they believe in what He has done, they believe in Who He is. They believe in what He has commissioned them to do…however… However, He, considering all of their belief instructs them to…wait. “Therefore, when they had come together, they asked Him, saying, “Lord, will You at this time restore the kingdom to Israel?” And He said to them, “It is not for you to know times or seasons which the Father has put in His own authority.  But you shall receive power when the Holy …

Faith & The Fast Lane: Faith for Creatives

“But, beloved, we are confident of better things concerning you, yes, things that accompany salvation, though we speak in this manner.  For God is not unjust to forget your work and labor of love which you have shown toward His name, in that you have ministered to the saints, and do minister.  And we desire that each one of you show the same diligence to the full assurance of hope until the end, that you do not become sluggish, but imitate those who through faith and patience inherit the promises.” ~HEBREWS 6:9-12 Sometimes in the pursuit of our passion, the vision that the Lord has set ablaze in our souls, we find ourselves slowing down to a productive pace that does not match the zeal that is burning on the inside of us.  We look around us and see others seemingly tackling goals and gaining momentum with neck-break speed while we putter along. We wonder if our faith is enough.  The answer is yes, yes your faith is enough!  Your journey in pursuit of your creative passion and the calling that the Lord has placed upon your life …

Steps & Leaps in Pursuit of Passion

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths.” ~PROVERBS 3:5-6 No matter how big or small the step you take toward accomplishing your dream, celebrate the courage that you displayed in the step that you took and the ones that are sure to follow. Each stone you put forth is one more to add to the foundation of your future. Be grateful for your progress and keep moving forward! Our Faith is what brings our Heavenly Father pleasure! Faith in Him is the greatest expression of gratitude and devotion, especially as we pursue the passion that He has seeded in our hearts.  Faith is not only defined by giant leaps but is often reflected in the tiny steps.  Keep stepping forward, confident that He will shine a light on your path as you seek His face and way toward your goal.  ~Poeima, Poetry in Motion

All Things Beautiful: Faith for the New Year

“He has made everything beautiful in its time. Also He has put eternity in their hearts, except that no one can find out the work that God does from beginning to end.” ~ECCLESIASTIES 3:11 The Year 2019 is the start of a new season, a new day, a new year! As with most people, many of us are stepping forward into the newness of the unknown while leaving behind so much. Maybe you lost a loved one. Maybe a relationship ended. Maybe you didn’t lose those last five pounds that you planned to shed at the start of 2018. The good news is it is okay. Christ Jesus, the God of all creation, knows your heart, and He knows the steps you take. If you trust Him, no matter how frozen the world around you may seem, (or for those of you who live below the equator experiencing sweltering heat) soon and very soon you will see and feel the warmth of the Son (sun) breaking through the ice and revealing all the goodness of …

The Words We Live By

Revised from September 15, 2015 “I don’t live by people’s compliments, because if I lived by their compliments I would die by their criticism.” ~STEVEN FURTICK Whose words are you living by (on)? Man’s OPINION of you will change, but God’s remains the same. The Lord Jesus said in Matthew 4:4 “…It is written: ‘Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.’” To live off the Words of God is to live and rest in the truth that you are greatly loved, fearfully and wonderfully made, that you are delighted in. These are the words of life. These are the truths that pierce the darkness and let the light break forth within us. Live off the Words of your Daddy God, spoken by the Word made flesh, our Savior Jesus Christ. He is the Light and He is the Life (JOHN 8:12). Let us all live off of life. ~Poiema, Poetry in Motion *Photo by Shelby Miller on Unsplash

The One We Serve: Faith for Our Labors

I’ma tell you like Daddy told me, in everything you do give God the glory. Every opportunity you’re given, sing your song for TWO as you would for a THOUSAND…” ~JOANN ROSARIO The above quote is the opening verse from the song titled “Serve You Only,” by JoAnn Rosario. There is such wisdom in this quote, such encouragement that, to me, really puts life and actions in proper perspective. Sometimes, most of the time, we weigh the value of our efforts by the size of the audience or the applause we may or may not receive as a result of it. We allow the absence of accolades to force our minds into the abysmal depths of disbelief, thinking our work is for not. “No one will buy this painting. No one cares about this poem. Who is going to read this book? I shared the Gospel and no one accepted Christ as their Savior. Is my work in vain?” All of these thoughts, and we all have had them, lead me to the old saying, “If …

Guard Your Future: Creative Motivation

Stop cheating on your Future with your Past” ~Pastor Kenny, Associate Pastor of Covenant Church The phrase sounds simple enough, but it is often the simple things in life that cause people to stumble the most. We all know that it is true. But then, maybe the quote isn’t that simple. What does it really mean? To not cheat on your Future with your Past, is to not allow the “baggage” and the “failures” of yesterday-be they your own failures or those of someone else-to keep you from embracing the goodness that is ahead. “Holding on to yesterday becomes nothing short of a robbing bondage. We lose everything if we don’t let go. We have to divorce yesterday.”   We have all heard the saying (and I paraphrase) “You can’t drive your car through the rear view mirror.” Well trying to do so is the equivalent of allowing your eye to wander back toward the past instead of being committed to the opportunity of the present future. If we take this attitude into a romantic …

Dreaming & Sowing Seeds

“Dreaming is not wasting time, it’s peeking into your future ahead of time.”   In all truth, even though I polished up the words to make them into a quote, they are actually the result of a conversation I was having with the Lord Jesus. I have said it a bazillion times, that I am a stickler for time. I like to make the best use of every second of every day…its akin to squeezing blood from a turnip the way I can be when it comes to time management. “Dreaming is sowing seed.” This is not always a good thing, although I still stand on the fact that being wasteful of time is not good either. Once before, several years ago, also while having a conversation with God, the topic then being money, He asked me, “What happens to a fist full of sand when you squeeze it as tightly as you can?” My response, “The tighter you squeeze the faster it seems to slip away from you.” His response, “That is exactly what happens …

Dreams Don’t Expire: Creative Motivation

Dreams don’t have an expiration date.” ~ Jesse Duplantis As long as there is still breath in your lungs and life in your heart, there is still time for you to achieve your dream. Dreams are seeds, and with all things born of seeds, they have their season to grow. The word of God says it like this, To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven:” ~ECCLESIASTES 3:1 KJV (See vs 1-8) Maybe your dream has not yet come into its season. DON’T. GIVE. UP! There is still time. Maybe you are someone who has invested many years, along with tears, into a vision that seems to remain fruitless or blurred. Again I say, don’t give up. If you know in the center of your being that what you are aiming to do is from God, and screams to be birthed, no matter the obstacles or the detours, keep holding out in faith and keep cultivating what is inside of you. Joseph had many dreams to become a …

Team Up! :How to Achieve Your Dream Pt 3

Teamwork makes the dream work.” ~John C. Maxwell Everything God created was created to be most fruitful when it is connected with another. Why? Because there is such beauty and satisfaction to be had when triumph and victory are born from cooperation. When a man takes a wife, children are born. When a bee meets a flower, more flowers, bees, and honey are born as well as food for the world. When seed meets soil and is saturated with rain, new life is produced. Joy and appreciation from the works and gifts of others bless us with gratitude and the cultivation of a culture of encouragement. When we, dreamers and visionaries becoming creators, have taken the steps to: 1. Believe: Believe that we can achieve the dream that is inside of us. (See Believe You Can). 2. Simplify: Take your processes one step at a time without over-complicating each move you make. (See Keep it Simple). … we are on the path to productively multiplying our success which is found in our ability to properly align ourselves to …
