Creative Winters: Waiting for the Fruits of Spring

“Winter is the silent intermission for glorious spring! There is life beyond our frozen earth waiting to break forth in its season.” ~CANDICE COATES There are these moments that come in our creative journey whereas it seems that nothing is happening. We feel as if we’ve hit a wall in our writing, our art, our everything. But just like in nature, just like with God who took a day off from his work of creation, we too have our creative winters. When your creativity slips into silence, allow it a moment of rest. Though it may seem as creative winter in your world, be confident that spring is just around the bend. Ebbs are always followed by flows. As King Solomon so eloquently put it in Ecclesiastes 3:1,(1-8), “For everything there is a season, a time for every activity under heaven.” If the Lord has promised you a destination, trust that He will keep His word to you. I have found that some of my best creative seasons came after a time of rest. This …

Thanks in Everything: The Art of Thanks Giving by Briana Lassiter

Lately, the Lord has really been dealing with me on thanksgiving. Really it’s been about a straight year of Him actively teaching me about this topic and I kind of thought I had the hang of it until a couple weeks ago when He asked me to start thanking Him for the things that are not in my life. Sometimes it’s really easy to focus our prayers on the facts that we aren’t where we want to be yet or we still have healing to receive in certain areas that are causing us pain, and we forget to thank Him for the things that He has kept or removed from us. Whether …

Going with the Flow

I share this article from January 15, 2014. The glory and truths found within are still relevant today. I pray you are blessed by them. Today was a gorgeous day, not just because the climate was balmy and the sun was shining without a single cloud in the sky, but also because of the things that I got to do and didn’t get to do. I literary woke up this morning to the sound of birds singing. First I thought, “Lil, birds it is January. You must be confused.” But then a thought accord, they were not confused. They knew exactly what time of the year it was but because our Beloved Savior, Christ Jesus had been so gracious and given them such a gorgeous day, they were taking advantage of it. “It was like playing in a preview of what is to come.” These little birds were rejoicing in the moment, going with the flow and just getting to hear their delight made me smile. Their delight was contagious. As I write this, my …
