Courage Through Peace: Faith for Creatives

And He called a child to Himself and set him before them, and said, “Truly I say to you, unless you are converted and become like children, you will not enter the kingdom of heaven. “Whoever then humbles himself as this child, he is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven.…” ~MATTHEW 18:2-4

Often times in our lives, no matter our age, no matter our victories or triumphs, we find ourselves in a place of uncertainty. Forces in the atmosphere have a way of coming at us out of nowhere, with the sole design to catch us off guard and to knock us off our axis.

I thank Christ Jesus for His Word, that He instructs us to have child-like faith because as His child I have no need of shame when I come to Him for affirmation. A child, no matter their age, is always welcome into their Father’s arms. And it is in those instances when we lift our hands to Him and allow Him to draw us up into the safety of His arms that our courage renews.

We come to Him as children, rest in the gentleness of the Lamb, and are empowered by the Lion of Judah. For in our weakness HE is strong in Power. (II Corinthians 12:9)

I can’t tell you how beautiful it is to find courage through His peace. That is something that you have to experience all on your own.

Be encouraged, no matter what. The Great I AM is HERE and He loves you! If you feel troubled, if you have lost your peace, let Him be I AM.

Sweet Tea: Flash Fiction Results For #Blog Battle Week 46

Happy Tuesday! Happy Blog Battle Tuesday! This week we are aiming our writing guns at a new GENRE:ROMANCE using the KEYWORD: INDIAN. To read other stories writing by other battlers, please click HERE.

Sweet Tea

The way the ice melted beneath the heat of the sweet tea made him stick his fingers between  his neck and collar and loosen up its choking bindings. It was early November. There should have been at least frost on the ground, not flowers and sun dresses and certainly not sweet tea in the garden. But they were experiencing a glorious and completely unexpected Indian Summer, one that was just as unexpected as his being there, in Miss Lorrel Hadly’s garden in the first place.

The young woman was absolutely divine. Here generosity and charity of heart had certainly humbled Blake Dunnan. But it didn’t make him wish to run or scorn her. Instead it made him covet her company like a bee to nectar. He’d heard Pastor Rolan’s preach from the scripture in Galatians, he believed, Blake couldn’t be quite sure which book it was, but he’d heard him say that it was the grace of God that brought men to repentance. And since Blake had met Lorrel, he couldn’t disagree. The grace she’d given him under their hateful circumstances had made him so much more than repentant, they’d made him love her.

Lorrel sat the large citrus tea pot on a cozy and offered the mason jar of sweetness to him. With a whispered thank you, he drank down several gulps feeling as hot and cold as the tea and as anxious as the bee that danced around the floral arrangement on the table, grateful for the extra chance to gather nectar, just as Blake was.

He smiled at the tiny creature  before setting his drink down and clearing his throat. Lorrel hardly made eye contact with him. She probably suspected the worse. That’s all his presence brought her in the four months head made her acquaintance. He’d hoped he could undo that.

“Miss Hadly,” He said, noticing that his voice gave a dry crack. Heat crept up his neck and rose to his face with the look in her eyes. She was kind and generous but she was clearly anxious about him being there. It wasn’t his fault that her father had all but ruined his own business dealings with bad investments only after signing over just about everything including his soul to Dunnan Shipping and Imports as collateral. When the old man died he left mountains of worry and debt that landed in his daughters lap and a financial inconvenience that had made Blake none too happy even though he was really nothing more than ‘inconvenienced’.

He admitted that he’d acted rashly as he demanded liquidation of most of the Hadly estate in order to make himself and his father whole. It was the right thing for all the wrong reasons and once the ball had begun rolling it was virtually impossible to stop it. He’d only met Lorrel towards the end of his devastation of her life, but now he wished nothing more than to make her whole again.

“Miss Hadly,” He said again. “I wanted to have a very important word with you.”

Her eyes grew wider and it seemed the pink had washed out of her face. Her mouth bobbed in a rushed response. “Mr. Dunnan I know that I’m supposed to be off the estate grounds by month’s end. I assure you that I’m doing everything I can to get things squared away. I,” She twisted a napkin she had only just laid across her lap. Blake’s heart kicked in his chest. He couldn’t stand to see her anxious.

“There is not trouble with that, Miss. Hadly. I didn’t come to speak to you about the house, but rather something I lost inside your abode, and,” He scooted a bit closer to her. “And I was wondering if you should find it, and see any value in it, would you do me the honor of keeping it?”

Lorrel tilted her head, her thick blonde curls catching the sun with glow that made her hair appear as spun gold. “I’ve not come across anything of yours, Mr. Dunnan,” She stood. “Perhaps its in Daddy’s study. We can look now if you’d like?”

Blake rose to meet her this time he took her hand in his. He closed his eyes and thanked God she did not pull away. His throat was already beginning to close with nerves. Lorrel laid her other hand atop his and gave a gentle squeeze of concern.

“Are you alright, Mr. Dunnan? You look unwell. Is there anything I can do?”

He managed a nod and even a bit of laughter before opening his eyes. “Indeed you can.” He spoke his words little more than a whisper. “You see, I lost my heart in there, but not in your father’s study. I lost it in your hands,” Lorrel took in a sharp breath. The angel had no idea. Blake took a step closer to her and again thanked God she did not shy away from him. “And though I recognize it is a shabby heart, the last months can attest to that, I was wondering if you would be willing to keep it for a spell.” He tried another smile but this one made him look like a school boy he feared, for he was well out of confidence though he managed to press on.

“Keep-keep your heart?” Lorrel whispered, her blue-green eyes glassy with tears.

“Only if you think it worthy of you.” A tear slipped from her eye and he thumbed it away with such reverence as he would show gold. “I wouldn’t want to trouble you with it for long, however, only maybe til death us do part.” His heart kicked again in his chest especially with her glorious smile.

“I think I might have some time available for that Mr. Dunnan.”

“Blake, call me Blake.” He said before giving her their first kiss that tasted of sweet tea.

Perfect Timing: Flash Fiction Results For Monday’s Muse Jan 18th 2016

Today is Thursday! My favorite day of the week, and as always here are my results for Monday's Muse! To see the rules and even give them a try yourself, please do so by clicking HERE.

Perfect timing

She read the words again, this time through tear blurred eyes. After last night, after her rant, she hadn’t known what today would have brought her.  She most certainly hadn’t expected this.

The look in his chocolate brown eyes, the way his brow had creased with every burst of emotion that she spit at him surely had warranted anything but such a declaration. To me, you are perfect. Perfect. He thought she was perfect, still believed it…even after everything.

Madison felt like nothing short of a failure. All of her hopes and dreams seemed to have sifted through her fingers like sand, a horrible reminder of how time had rushed away from her leaving her, leaving them barren.

They had tried everything, shots, treatments, planning, even several different types of birth control to regulate her horrible irregularity. And what had she gotten for it? A mass of  frustration, disappointment and almost 30 pounds of weight, none of which had a baby attached to it.

Harris deserved better. She’d meant to say so but all that came out of her mouth was recklessness born of her own pain. Harris had tried to speak, tried to pull her down off the cliff of emotional suicide, but it was no use. She could hear none of it. She was angry. Angry at herself, angry at Harris, and angry at God for not answering her prayers.

She collapsed onto the sofa, still staring at the posted sign scrolled by Harris’ hand. The recitation of their spoken vows echoed in her memory pressing more tears from her eyes for better or for worse. This, dry land, had indeed been their worse, she felt at her worse and yet her husband proved his love and meaning of every vow he’d made before their God and Father.

But Madison didn’t understand. She couldn’t understand why she could have the job at the company she wanted, why she could have the car she desired, the bank accounts so fat with cash flow that they made her enormous midsection look like a slight case of bloating. But yet with all the answered prayers, they could not have a child. She couldn’t give Harris what he wanted the most.

“I just want him to have that, Lord. I want him to be happy with me,” She sniffled.

“I am happy with you,” His words startled her. Harris met her gaze but closed the gap between them, dropping to his knees same as he’d done five years ago when he’d proposed. Even the mist of tears was in his eyes. “You are perfect to me, Madison. And I love you.”

She felt the salt rising in her mouth with more tears. Defeat was so ugly, but she somehow felt less of the blow with the beauty that knelt before her with him thumbing away her tears, ignoring his own.

Harris pulled her forehead to his before he kissed her tenderly. “Let’s bring an end to all our trying, okay?” He whispered.

Madison wrapped her arms tightly around his neck and rested her face just beneath his chin. She gladly welcomed the end to trying. Harris continued, “And let’s set our hearts on trusting. We may not know or understand God’s timing, but we know He loves us and is for us. So let us begin there, trusting Him with this. He gave us each other in His perfect love. He’ll gladly give us everything else in His perfect timing.”

This story I felt was extremely heavy, and as the words flowed I felt very timid in wanting to handle them with care. It is a hard thing to trust God with His timing and way for us especially when we don’t understand. The truth is, we never truly understand and if we did then what need would we have of faith? Could faith even be called faith IF we had all the answers? The pastor I follow, Ron Carpenter of Redemption Church, said something that really blessed my heart and I paraphrase: “God shows us the ‘A’ of where we are and the ‘Z’ of where we are going, and ‘Z’ is amazing. We don’t have a problem with ‘A’ or ‘Z,’ it’s the LMNOP that we have a problem with.” How many of us can agree with that? I know I can. Faith requires of us trial, and dreaded sufferings that rewards us with a faith more valuable than  pure gold (1 Peter 1:6-9). It is a sturdy faith, a trustworthy faith able to maintain the blessing and vision we wait for. It is in these sufferings that we are made like Christ, for we share in His sufferings so that we can also share in His glory (Romans 8:17). The thing I most appreciate about Christ and His suffering for the whole of creation on the Cross is that He made it plain that He despised the shame of it (process) and YET He endured it for the glory of us that would be revealed (Hebrews 12:1-2). So I encourage you in whatever trial you may be facing to just be honest with how you feel and trust Him to carry you through it. There is glory in trusting Him. And just as He came to redeem the world at the perfect time (Galatians 4:4-7), He will make His promises manifest in our lives at the perfect time (Ecclesiastes 3:11). Just keep believing.

His Mercies New, His Grace Abundant: Basking In the Faithfulness of God

Clouds 4

Have you seen the sky today? I don’t know where in the world you might call home, but here, in my neck of the woods the sky is breathtaking.

Just typing these words, peering out the window at the glorious display that Yeshua Jesus has put on outside puts such joy in my heart and a smile on my face. The Word says that “The heaven’s declare the glory of God,” and I have to agree. Seeing this evidence enables me to say it is truly well within my soul.

Clouds. They are such marvelous things. The sky is a gorgeous aquamarine blue and is perfectly dotted with fluffy white clouds, framed with even whiter halos of light!

Some of you may be thinking, “So what. They are clouds.” But do you know what the Word of God says about clouds?

Nahum 1:3 The LORD is slow to anger but great in power; the LORD will not leave the guilty unpunished. His way is in the whirlwind and the storm, and clouds are the dust of His feet.”

The clouds are the very dust of His feet. Let that sink in for a moment…I smile on days like this because on these days it is impossible for me to doubt His love for me and that HE is doing something awesome on my behalf.

Yeshua Jesus is busy, busy, busy with fulfilling His word and promises.

I have probably said this before on this very blog, but it warrants being told again and again. First, the purity of Christ Jesus is so amazing that even the DUST/CLOUDS from HIS FEET is white. There is no stain, no blot, no imperfection to be found in Him.

Secondly, clouds are the sustaining factor of life on this earth. Without clouds, we have no rain, without rain, fresh water runs dry. Without fresh water…you get the picture.Clouds 1

God is so mighty, and so big and so awesome, that HE sustains His creation with the DUST that falls from His feet. The dust. The Word of God says in regard to God and His goodness:

Matthew 5:43-45 You have heard it was said, ‘You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ But I(Yeshua Jesus) say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you , and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you, that you may be sons of your Father in Heaven; for He makes His sun rise on the evil and on the good, and SENDS HIS RAIN ON THE JUST AND THE UNJUST.”

When it comes to God and His loving kindness, He extends it to all, equally. The just and the unjust, the good and evil, all partake of His kindnesses daily, whether we knowledge them or not, whether we acknowledge Him or not.

But these collective mercies, are coming solely from what is shed from His person and not from the fullness of what HE desires to give unto us. These blessings, that which is more than dust, are reserved for His children, those who are called according to the Name of Yeshua Jesus, who have accepted Him and His adoption of them.

There are bounties of grace, favor and goodness, that we as the children of God take part in just because we have said “yes” to Him and His abundant love found in the redemptive work of Christ upon the cross. All of us have the choice to say yes and invite Yeshua Jesus into our hearts as our Lord and Savior.

Clouds…not even a taste of what He has to offer, but the promise of some incredibly, indescribably, magnificent goodness and blessings to come. Clouds…testaments of how MIGHTY and AWESOME and OMNISCIENT GOD TRULY IS!

God is moving, always moving. Today was just a reminder of that truth.

No Greater Love…:Recognizing Pain Doesn’t Negate God’s Love

When I created this blog, I created it based off of a new light I had discovered within my soul while traveling through Europe. The thing about that light was that it had been there all the while, I had just…misplaced it.5073813653_606590401b

Since allowing myself to yield and to grow, and allow that light to truly shine, that light has shone itself, not only in my art but in my faith.

Within my faith and walk with Christ, I have come to a place where all I want is His glory. All I want to know is Him and Him crucified (I Corinthians 2:2) and what that means for ALL of us.

All I want to know, all I want others to know is that His love and His grace is His TRUTH is more than enough…even, no, ESPECIALLY when it hurts!

But just like that light within me, the one I discovered on my journey, the one I had to let shine, so too must I allow Christ to shine they way HE sees best in me.

I have to trust His love in this.

Part of this growth in Him, actually, a very GREAT part of this growth in Him is contingent upon being wounded, broken to be mended. The thing of it is, we are already broken, but we just don’t know it. HE wants to heal the brokenness.

When a patient undergoes surgery, they go in knowing that the hardest part of that surgery is the recovery. The recovery, the regeneration of nerves and tissue, bone, will cause a great deal of pain.

But it is worth it…

I wonder why so many of us are willing to trust the surgeon who is just a man, but not the Creator of Man, when He comes with His scalpel.

There is a quote I once heard that goes:

The problem with living sacrifices is that they keep getting off the altar.”

When the fire gets hot, when the pain gets intense, when we are the only one on the operation table in God’s operating room, we tend to balk and seek retreat. We question God’s love for us.

No one likes pain. He, Yeshua Jesus, endured our pains for us because He didn’t want us to go it alone. He bore our sickness so that we could be healed (Isaiah 53.) So when He comes to heal, and it hurts, we have to trust it is for our good because HE is not just wounding but repairing something that was already broken.

I am notorious for the balking, sliding away from the pain…the loneliness that comes with it. Its no fun but I have to trust His love even through these storms.

I hear His voice telling me to keep my eyes on Him during these times, and sometimes that is akin to being in a hurricane but straining to look through the peep hole of a door. But then this is why we walk by faith and not by sight. Our spiritual eyes don’t see the storm, they see the Savior and His Salvation.

One of the scriptures that He has graciously placed upon my heart is ROMANS 12:12

Rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation, be constant in prayer.”

The only way to do this, sincerely, is to keep one’s eyes on the One Who calms the storms.

How can we rejoice in hope? We can do this by reminding ourselves that He loves us and He is faithful to do what He said.

How can we be patient in tribulation? By trusting that He is in it with us and He is in control, knowing always or footsteps are ordered. Tribulation is a road not a destination.

How can we be constant in prayer? We can be constant in prayer because when know one else is willing to listen, Yeshua Jesus is. His Word says:

1 Peter 5:6-7 “Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty Hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time, casting ALL your care upon Him, for HE CARES FOR YOU.”

He cares for us…He cares for me…He loves me even when it hurts, even when I am confused, even when I feel lost or left out, or alone, He loves me. And He will never leave nor forsake me. (Deuteronomy 31:6, Hebrews 13:5)

I thank you for allowing me to share my journey here. I am still walking through. More so being cared by the Loving Father.

I share this song with you, as He also puts songs in my heart. This one is by Fred Hammond called “No Greater Love.” Take the time and listen to it and make it personal. Let it minister to your need. Let your soul take joy in knowing and remembering HE LOVES YOU!

“No Longer Slaves” By Bethel Church: A Music Interlude of Sweet Worship and Adoration

I heard this song a few days ago when a Brother in Christ posted it on his Facebook page. His description of it was so moving that I had to listen (would have done so anyway since I love to worship with Bethel Church.)

These words just resonant within my soul and encompass me in the sweetest love of God! I am no longer a slave of fear, I am free, I am a child of God! You can be too!

Jesus came for us all! His gift is for all! All you have to do is say YES!

God Bless!

A Message to the Body of Christ: Whose fault is it anyway?

I had to share this teaching by Pastor Ron Carpenter. This word is heavy hitting but it is relevant and it is a dose of reality that the Body of Christ needs to take.

Be blessed and due prayerfully consider and receive what is being said. To God, Yeshua Jesus, our Savior, Redeemer, Father, Friend and King be the Glory for ever! Amen!

The Love of the Savior

I can touch more than the hem of Your Garment. I can touch Your heart.” ~Candice Coates

Messiah Yeshua, Jesus Christ, the Mighty Right Hand of God, God Himself, the Creator of all and the Lord of all, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace, The Mighty King made Himself humble just to be near to us. How great the depth of His love, often misunderstood, often misrepresented. But His light is too fierce for darkness to overshadow. His love is tenacious and open for us all in Spirit, Grace and Truth.
