“Sanctify them by Your truth. Your word is truth.” ~JOHN 17:17
What does it mean to be sanctified? The word is a part of our identity and position as new creations in Christ and blood-bought children of God, but few today understand what it means to be sanctified nor what it really takes to be sanctified.
According to the Oxford dictionary, to sanctify or be sanctified is to be ‘set apart as or declare holy; consecrate, or to be free from sin and purified‘.
The Word of God further proves this by affirming that we are in Christ and He is in us (I JOHN 4:10-13), that our old has past and we are now righteous in Him by faith (II COR. 5:17, II COR. 5:21, ROM. 3:20-26.)
Christ Himself, before He went to the cross to cut this covenant of Grace and Truth with the Father on our behalf, prayed on our behalf that the Father would sanctify us by His truth and stated that His Word is Truth.
Here is the beauty, we are sanctified, set apart, holy, clean, and free from all sin, purified, and consecrated by the Word and the Truth.
How glorious to know that Christ Jesus is the Living Word and He is the Truth (JOHN 1:1-5)!
Friends in order for us to be all that Christ has created us to be and to do all that He has put in our hearts to do we must have confidence in who He has saved us to be and be confident in our position with Him.
There is no sin that can separate us from His love. There is no wrongdoing that we as born-again believers can do that puts us out of fellowship with our Heavenly Father (ROMANS 8:31-39).
No matter what, Christ has paid the price for all of our shortcomings, and His blood continuously washes us. He has purified and sanctified us by all that He is. He is the Word and He is the Truth!
Today, believe you are welcome by the Father, don’t allow condemnation to make you turn from Him. Christ’s work has undone for all eternity the failure of Adam.
Continue to bathe in the Truth and the Word, be consumed in Christ, and assured of your position in Him as you approach your Loving Heavenly Father boldly.
You are sanctified by Him, through Him, and for Him forevermore! And there is nothing that you can do to change that!
