Passover: The Power of Remembrance

“Then they cried out to the Lord in their trouble, And He saved them out of their distresses. 20 He sent His word and healed them, And delivered them from their destructions. 21 Oh, that men would give thanks to the Lord for His goodness,
And for His wonderful works to the children of men! 22 Let them sacrifice the sacrifices of thanksgiving, And declare His works with rejoicing.” ~PSALM 107:19-22

It was at the start of 2020 that I had begun to pray for a word to share for Passover. Actually, I began to petition the Lord for the message He would have me share around late December 2019. The reason being that Passover is my most beloved Holy Day/ Holiday.

Now, just for clarification, Passover and Resurrection/Easter are NOT the same Holiday. Passover is when our Lord God Yeshua Jesus took our place and bore the wrath of God for all of our sins, past, present, and future. It is when He, being the sacrificial Lamb, shed His blood for our cleansing and redemption. It is when He was crushed for our iniquities so that the oil of anointing would flow and every yoke in our lives was destroyed and burdens lifted. It is when the stripe upon His back (He was lashed so many times that many wounds became one) declared that we are healed in this life!

Passover is when the New Covenant of Grace and Truth came.

Resurrection Day or Easter is actually the remembrance of First Fruits. It was on First Fruits that our Savior rose from the grave declaring us wholly and completely justified and born anew as the righteousness of God in Christ (ROMANS 4:20-25).

We can’t have one day without the other and I am grateful for them all, but on Passover, I get to gather with loved ones and not only remember what He did on the first night of Passover but what He has done for us during His passion on earth.

Passover is when we are reminded that even now, with worldwide fear of sickness, a pandemic that seems to be neverending, we can remember that Christ is still on the throne, and His BLOOD STILL HAS POWER!

So, at the start of January 2020, the Lord gave me the scriptures of PSALM 107:19-22 as well as PSALM 44:1-8. It wasn’t until recently that the significance of these verses resonated in my heart for this season and time and in light of our current situation.

“We have heard with our ears, O God, Our fathers have told us, The deeds You did in their days, In days of old: 2 You drove out the nations with Your hand, But them You planted; You afflicted the peoples, and cast them out. 3 For they did not gain possession of the land by their own sword, Nor did their own arm save them; But it was Your right hand, Your arm, and the light of Your countenance, Because You favored them. 4 You are my King, O God; Command victories for Jacob. 5 Through You we will push down our enemies; Through Your name we will trample those who rise up against us. 6 For I will not trust in my bow, Nor shall my sword save me. 7 But You have saved us from our enemies, And have put to shame those who hated us. 8 In God we boast all day long,
And praise Your name forever. Selah” ~PSALM 44:1-8

When the Lord gave me these scriptures for Passover, nothing seemingly significant was happening in our world. Everyone was preparing for the new decade and new beginnings. We had our usual new year’s goals and also several prophetic words and promises for this decade that we were preparing for … but then the pandemic hit.

In December, I prayed for a word and it is believed that the first case of this pandemic was documented in December 2019.

Glory goes to our Passover Lamb for truly being all-knowing because even though we had no inkling of how things would be going into the season of deliverance Christ did and He has already told us to REJOICE! HE HAS HEARD US! He has sent His Word and Deliverance (PS 107:20).

We remember the First Passover: We remember that four hundred years prior to their bondage and the plagues that ravaged Egypt, the Lord had promised to bless the Children of Israel and to bring them into their own land after so many years of bondage (GEN. 15:13-16).

The Lord’s word does not return unto Him void. The same way no plague or Pharoah could keep the Children of Israel from the manifest promises of God, neither can today’s circumstances keep us, His Children born of Grace, from His manifest promises.

Like the Children of Israel did, we need to be prepared to move into what He has told us to prepare for long before the world was shaken.

We need to be prepared for suddenly!

We remember that the Blood still has POWER!: The same way the Blood of the lamb covering the lintels of every doorpost protected those who partook of the lamb and reclined in the safety of His word and assurance of His promise, that we who are born of the Resurrected Lamb, under a greater covenant with greater promises are covered with a Blood that is far superior to any and ever blood (HEB. 8:6)!

Christ blood covers you and as we recline in His goodness we can do so knowing that He has protected us, hears us, and has already made a way for our deliverance and entrance into whatever promises He made to us prior to the pandemic or any other situation in our lives right now.

His Word is not delayed nor will it be denied. Remember the blood!

We remember that He is the WORD and HE has healed and delivered: He has spoken His Word of promise to you and He is faithful to perform it for all of His promises are Yes and AMEN in Christ (II COR. 1:20). Because we have this assurance, we can take hope and heart in knowing that we are covered, we are healed, and we are delivered.

Mediate on the faithfulness of your God, Savior, and King. Keep getting ready for your divine appointment and your open door!

We remember that it is Him Who saves us: As the Lord had the prophet tell Jehoshaphat that the battle was not his but to position himself for the Lord’s deliverance, so to do we remember that it is not by our power or might that we are delivered out of our current positions and into your promised land’s, but it is through Christ and Christ alone. And He is more than able.

“You will not need to fight in this battle. Position yourselves, stand still and see the salvation of the Lord, who is with you, O Judah and Jerusalem!’ Do not fear or be dismayed; tomorrow go out against them, for the Lord is with you.” ~II CHRON. 20:17

We remember what He has already done and Rejoice!: Our God has a mighty track record of faithfulness and ‘suddenly’s’ and because He has never failed before, there is no reason why He will now.

Just like this pandemic has covered the earth, did you know that many ancient civilizations have documented darkness covering the earth during the time Christ hung crucified for us? There was darkness then and He being the light, suddenly brought the light. Him being the Word, said light be in the beginning, and four days before the sun, moon, and stars were created, light shone out of nothing.

He has already prepared for this. Rejoice now for your deliverance is come! He has heard you. Don’t wait until morning. Awaken the dawn with your praise!

“23 For I received from the Lord that which I also delivered to you: that the Lord Jesus on the same night in which He was betrayed took bread; 24 and when He had given thanks, He broke it and said, “Take, eat; this is My body which is broken for you; do this in remembrance of Me.” 25 In the same manner He also took the cup after supper, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in My blood. This do, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of Me.” 26 For as often as you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death till He comes.” ~I COR. 11:23-26

This Passover and Resurrections season, we make ready truly by remembering. We make ready by enacting His covenant and taking of His Body, Blood, and Anointing as we prepare to step out of this ‘darkness’ and into the Light of His promises.

We remember Christ. We remember the Covenant. We remember the Call.

Overview: If you are not familiar with taking communion on your own or even why we take it as born-again believers, here is a quick overview.

Read ISAIAH 53, 10:27, MARK 14:22-23, PSALM 105:37

TAKE NOTE: You can use whatever it is that you have at your disposal for communion, be that sliced bread, crackers, orange juice or even water. Taking communion is less about the actual elements and more about the child-like faith put into action that pleases the Lord. Use what you have and trust in His goodness.

  • The Bread: We take unleavened bread as a picture of His Body that was pierced and wounded for us. It is His Body that bore all of our sickness and diseases, pain, brokenness, and lack, be that mental, physical, or spiritual, so that we can have complete healing, wholeness and health in this life through Him. We discern His body and what He bore in our place. This is taking it in a worthy manner, giving Him all the glory for His free gift to us ( I COR. 11:23-31).
  • The Wine: We take the ‘blood’ because the blood has cleansed and redeemed us for sin, death, and the grave. The blood covers us and protects us. It is the signature that we are of His New Covenant of Grace.
  • The Oil: Anointing is a practice that is often overlooked. It is the anointing that destroys yokes and lifts every burden. Because He was crushed for our iniquities His anointing oil flows and we are covered in His oil.

Communion Prayer:

“Dear Heavenly Father, We thank you for this time and season. We thank you that we have the right and privilege to partake of this table as often as we remember You, and right now we remember You and all that You have done for us. We thank you for our perfect, spotless, Lamb that was offered up for us on the Cross of Calvary, and His blood that was shed and placed upon the doorpost of our hearts forever and always. We thank You that through His sacrifice and the shedding of His blood is this Covenant of Grace enacted and we partake of it today.

We take this matzah/bread in remembrance of Your precious Body that was pierced for us. We thank you that you bore the wrath of God in our place for all of our sins, past, present, and future. We thank you that by Your every stripe Jesus, we are healed of any and every affliction, that every pain and disease has to bow at the Name of Jesus. And we declare by faith, that just as there were none feeble who came out of Egypt after partaking of the lamb that we who take of the Body of Christ are made equally and fully whole. (EAT THE BREAD.)

We thank you that because you were crushed for our iniquities and carried them in our place, the oil of anointing flows now, and every yoke in our lives is destroyed and every burden is lifted, and we now have the Grace to walk in the anointing that You died and rose for us to have. (ANOINT YOURSELF)

And now, Father, we take of the cup which is a sign of the perfect blood shed for the remission of our sins. We are cleansed and redeemed. The New Covenant Grace is ours and we are made heirs to every promise and joint-heirs with Christ. We are cleansed and made free and always acceptable in your sight. (DRINK THE CUP)

We thank You in the matchless Name of Yeshua Jesus, our Lord. AMEN!”

I pray you are all blessed. I pray you are all remembering Him, His promises, and faithful goodness, and I pray you are reclining in Him with expectation and hope!

~Happy Passover and Happy Resurrection!
