When the Going Gets Tough, You Have a Helper

Behold, God is my helper; The Lord is with those who uphold my life.” ~PSALM 54:4

The Lord Who called you with purpose, dream, and vision, will help and sustain you especially when the going and growing gets tough (PSALM 23).

Remember when He told the disciples He required or had a need to go to the other side of the sea of Galilea (MARK 4:35-41)? He let it be known to them that He had business there, instructed them to row in that direction, and then with Him, on the boat with them fast asleep…an ugly storm came.

The storm that hit in the midst of transition did not cancel the word, desire, or direction that Christ had spoken and put in motion.

The best part about it was that not only was His plan and purpose not hindered by the storm but He was also in the midst of the storm during the transition with those He had commissioned to go forward.

And as He was with the disciples during their storm, so too is He with you and me when we set out in the direction of Faith and purpose that He has placed in our hearts.

So we can feel sure and say, “The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid. People can do nothing to me.” ~HEBREWS 13:6

King Saul’s coming against the future and anointed King of Israel, David, did not negate nor undo David’s identity, purpose or call. The same way your struggles and storms cannot undo yours.

But like David, we must press into Christ and the truth of His Word especially in these times of resistance and trial.

We are instructed and encouraged by Paul in Ephesians 6 to, “Take up the full armor of God.” We are instructed to especially or “above all” to take up the shield of faith, the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit which is the Word of God.

Resting in Faith that He is for you and is your Help disarms the enemy and storms, neutralizing the attack. Remembering that you are in covenant with Him through salvation gives you confidence that He will do what He has said. And taking up the sword of the Spirit, His Rhema word spoken to you about the call on your life and purpose for this faith move only increases your Faith which further strengthens your shield.

It’s a cycle of offensive victory, for after we are told to put on His full armor we are then instructed to stand.

Exodus 14 the Lord tells the Children of Israel to stand still and see His Salvation.

And Moses said to the people, “Do not be afraid. Stand still, and see the salvation of the Lord, which He will accomplish for you today. For the Egyptians whom you see today, you shall see again no more forever. The Lord will fight for you, and you shall hold your peace.” ~EXODUS 14:13-14

The glory of the Word is what is hidden and revealed in the Word. Our Savior’s Name is Yeshua/Jesus which literally means ‘Salvation.’

What does this mean? This means that when our storms come while we are moving toward the call He has set for us, that we are to fully cover ourselves in His Truth and Word and then stand and look to Him, our present Help.

We are to stand and see Christ, His finished work, His victory, His power, His love, and keep growing toward grace even in the times the going gets tough, for, after all, there is no greater nor surer help than He!
