“Commit your deeds to the Lord, and your plans shall succeed.” ~PROVERBS 16:3
In this life, no matter where you currently stand, there will come a time in your journey that you will desire to have more love, better relationships, profession, more money to pour into your passions, and success in balancing all of them.
In our youth, we have the awkward moments of sampling what love and relationship with the opposite sex look like. We are giving crash courses in high school and undergrad or university, where we are expected to be good managers of our time and the ‘fruits’ of labors we are expected to produce.
In and through it all, even into early adulthood, middle-aged life and beyond, the pursuit of success is the driving force toward our passion.
During the season of ‘love,’ the rise for the pursuit of a romantic relationship and the refreshing tingle of endorphins is hard to miss. Having this desire is not a sin, but how we choose to meet these needs (inherent as they are being designed by God) determines whether we will flourish or fail.
The truth also remains the same for any of our pursuits and passions.
I Timothy 6:9-11, gives us a fresh revelation of how to position ourselves in our pursuits of these passions.
THE PILLARS OF SUCCESS
MATTHEW 6:28-36 “Why should you worry about clothes? Think how the flowers grow. They do not work or make cloth. But I tell you that Solomon in all his greatness was not dressed as well as one of these flowers. God clothes the grass of the field. It lives today and is burned in the stove tomorrow. How much more will He give you clothes? You have so little faith! Do not worry. Do not keep saying, ‘What will we eat?’ or, ‘What will we drink?’ or, ‘What will we wear?’ The people who do not know God are looking for all these things. Your Father in heaven knows you need all these things. First of all, look for the holy nation of God. Be right with Him. All these other things will be given to you also. Do not worry about tomorrow. Tomorrow will have its own worries. The troubles we have in a day are enough for one day.”
We were, again, created with certain points of passion that we share with others, but we aren’t to so much chase these passions as if the end result depends solely on our efforts. The Lord has not called us to chase financial success, or fame, or even relational romance.
He has blessed and called us to pursue Him, righteousness, Godliness, faith, love, perseverance, and gentleness (GALATIANS 5:22-23). These are the foundation and pillars for our success in any pursuit we may have.
These are the foundation and pillars of our spiritual and eternal success, thusly being the cornerstone of our earthly success.
The foundations and pillars of our success are found in our hearts being centered upon Christ and seeking His Kingdom and Righteousness as stated in Matthew 6:28-36.
When His will and purpose are central to all that we do, thusly being the driving force strengthening our pursuits, then we will know success in our endeavors.
Psalms 37:4 tells us to delight ourselves in Him and He will give us the desires of our hearts. When we delight in Him, our pleasure becomes to submit to Him, submitting all of our passions and pursuit (and I am not saying that is always easy.)
The blessing in this is not just in the exchange of our focus, but in the upgrade that comes as a result. Not only do we become more deeply rooted and grounded in relationship with Him, but all of those passions that we still have a heart to pursue become transformed in a way that they are no longer idols.
As Proverbs 10:22 assures us, His blessings upon our pursuits are nothing short of prosperity and that prosperity is free from sorrow but full of a wealth of good things grounded in His righteousness and truth!
Here is a bonus for you: The Gospel of Grace & Truth, which is our Saviour Himself is prosperity! And there is no lack in Him!
Let Him be center, let Him be first, let His will be the foundation and you will find success in every point of pursuit.
