Road to the Heart: A Quote

The quickest road to the heart is the ear.” ~Voltaire As much as every human has a need for physical closeness and touch, so too, do we need the closeness of intimacy via being heard. When we make the extra effort to not only ‘hear’ what those closest to us are saying, but actually ‘listen,’ we express one of the greatest forms of intimacy and care. When we listen to others we are showing them that they are important, that we value their hearts. Take the time to listen to the ones you love. You don’t always have to agree, but listening, truly listening, aids in keeping relational harmony, and we all want that. ~Dream. Imagine. Believe. Do. CONQUER!

Remembering Why You Write: Wisdom from the Writer’s Journal

So you’ve decided that you are going to finally sit down and write a novel. Fantastic! Making the decision to actually sit down and do so tends to be one of the hardest parts of the novel writing journey. But more difficult than anything is the art of bringing  your story from the start of its labor pains clear into a fulfilling delivery. Let me begin by quoting a part of Scripture from the book of Isaiah: Isaiah 37:3b “…for the children have come to the birth, and there is no strength to give birth. To every trial and trouble, no matter how great the fruit, there tends to be one common denominator, that my friend is the root. ~ Candice Coates The root cause of what keeps so many brilliant writers from accomplishing their goal of completing their novel is DISCOURAGEMENT. Discouragement takes many forms and comes from many directions, some external while others internal, but all can rob us of our strength to carry on to the end. Rather than mapping out a …

Without Laughter: A Quote

The most wasted of all days is the one without laughter. ~E.E Cummings Laughter, like food, is the one other universal language that every person on this planet not only enjoys but needs to survive. Laughter is the music that is never out of tune. It is the one song that we all can sing, and find ourselves singing along  with even if we can’t explain why. Laughter is a gift, a precious gift given to us from Yeshua Jesus and one that we can give to others. It is a fire that burns nothing but calories! And who doesn’t like that? Laughter is priceless. Be sure to treasure it and share it with those around you. No day or heart is complete without it. ~Dream. Imagine. Believe. Do. CONQUER!

The Balancing Act: How to Balance Blog Life by Kristin

Hello, and welcome to this week’s addition of Wisdom from the Writer’s Journal.  Today we have with us Kristin, the mastermind, and wordsmith of The Pursuit of Another Adventure: A Chic Lit Blog.  Not only is she a great blogger, but she is also an Indie author. To find out more about her, you can do so by following her blog, or follower her on Twitter.  Without further ado, here are 9 things Kristin recommends for us to better balance our Blogging lives. 1. Get Up Early Easier said than done.  If I get up one hour before I usually do to get ready for work I never have the excuse to not blog.  And when no one else is awake yet, you get a lot done. The only way to get up early one day is to set an alarm and go to bed early the next night. 2. Pick Your Place I prefer to write in quiet.  I like to be alone with my thoughts.  But some people like to be in busy coffee …

Enthusiasm Equals Greatness: A Quote & Encouragement #FaithFriday

Nothing great was ever achieved without enthusiasm. ~Ralph Waldo Emerson Whatever you set your mind to do be sure to do it with enthusiasm. People appreciate the spirit in which something is done more so than the actual doing. And in that shared spirit is true greatness. The Word of God instructs us to be cheerful givers and to sow with purpose from our hearts.  (2 Corinthians 9:6-7). Great or small, a simple act of kindness, a story written, a picture painted, or even a glass of water, give it with enthusiasm. It is out of a littles seeds of enthusiasm sown that fruitful trees of greatness grow. ~Dream. Imagine. Believe. Do. CONQUER!

From Fire & Ashes: A Poem & Word of Faith

Oh sweet fire Oh sweet fire Burning from embers Kissed by gales of rushing wind Charred black my loveliness Til all seems lost And I must start again Bring forth new life, Oh sweet fire From death spring fertile ground In the wake of your scorching pyres Is where my future will abound Oh sweet fire ~Candice Coates From Fire & Ashes: A Word of Faith & Encouragement Fire rips through the hilly countryside, leaving devastation in its wake. All seems lost. Hope is suffocated in the thick choking smoke that rises from the ashes of what used to be treasures and dreams.  And when the orange and black fades, giving way to sunlight, nothing can be heard but mocking silence. The fire has one and all is lost. …Or is it? If you live long enough, if you haven’t already, you will drink of your fair share of disappointment. Something will come and snatch the proverbial rug from beneath your feet and leave you on your back winded. None of us are  immune to it. …
