Buttercups: Flash Fiction

“My desire is to spend my days becoming a proficient writer. It’s all I want to do.”

“But what about everything else?”

“Everything else?”

“Everything else. Going out, gaining a solid occupation, climbing social ladders. Surely you want to have a family?”

“Don’t misunderstand, family, faith, communing with loved ones, that is paramount. That is most important, but everything else? Everything else is buttercups.”

“Beautiful in today’s fleeting moment, but gone tomorrow. Writing, that will always remain.”
