Setting The Mood With My Muse: Musical Interlude

As I was doing some editing on one of my manuscripts, I began to think about the very first full length novel I ever penned. (Literally penned because I didn’t have a computer and had to write it all out by hand in a serious of journals. Finger cramps anyone?) In light of thinking about the novel one of the songs that helped me create tension, get into the head of one of the main characters came to mind.

Even though the book is a Science Fiction Action Thriller, there are aspects of romantic relationship as, romance is a part of life and the book would have been flat in that regard without a peppering of it.

So, unable to resist the urge, or get the tune out of my head, I have to share. Since I have been blossoming in romance I figured now is as good as a time as any.

Do pay attention to the lyrics which I have pasted below. The words are INCREDIBLE. The emotion is just delectable!

Oh such glorious pining!

(Gosh! Now I have to go and break out their music…Look them up! Floetry.)

Here it is “If I Was A Bird” by Floetry, taken from the Floetic album. Other songs I recommend by them: Hello, Hey You, My Apology, Butterflies, Now That You’r Gone.

Lyrics: By Floetry

Sometimes blindness finds me
and leads me through ignorance
not allowing us to gain experience
so we become lifeless
At other times I cover with
self pity or work aimlessly through reality so
Occasionally I choose to travel alone
but never fulfil my possibility so
mostly I attempt to achieve balance
by seeking right knowledge of loving
and reviewing and eventually overstanding those
many lessons of my life

You got me caught in a stormy eye world of dreams
and I beg to see truth and promises you made to me
now we’ve come so far but my visions of happiness
with you in my life I’m afraid and confused
If I was a bird I’d fly

If I was a bird I’d fly away
spread my wings so I’d escape
If I was the sky
I’d let it rain to wash away the pain

If I was a bird I’d fly away
spread my wings so I’d escape
If I was the sky
I’d let it rain to wash away the pain

Now why do I feel so alone
knowing I know I have you
and what made you turn around on me
what did I do
and when did love feel this way
so much pain and misery
where’s the you I once knew
and could ya fly with me

If I was a bird I’d fly away
spread my wings so I’d escape
If I was the sky
I’d let it rain to wash away the pain

Now I can’t stay
you won’t need me
set me free and let me fly
oh fly with me
fly with me me
fly with me yeah
fly oh fly fly

Fly away
(music)
If I was the sky
I’d let it rain to wash away the pain
